Apink’s leader, Park Cho-Rong, was accused of fake bullying charges when many Kpop Idols were accused of bullying charges in early 2021.
A number of Kpop Idols went under scrutiny when they were claimed of bullying in schools. Many trolls attempted to target idols, and the majority of them were shown to be fake such as in the cases of Stray Kids’ Hyunjin and Seventeen’s Mingyu. However, Apink’s Leader, Chorong’s case is taking much longer.
A picture of Chorong drinking when she was underage surfaced on the internet following the bullying claims. The victim claimed that she was a childhood friend of Apink’s star and had been physically bullied by her. According to the victim, she was slapped and got kicked in the shins when they were in school. When the firm refuted allegations, Chorong spoke about it.
Chorong apologized for the underage drinking and spoke about the bullying allegations. She stated that they were good friends, and there may have been misunderstandings. She shared that she had never physically harmed Ms. Kim.
At the time, many Kpop celebrities were accused of bogus allegations, which caused fans to remain impartial in her case. Ms. Kim had even provided an audio clip of her interaction with Cho-Rong, during which she was confronted with the bullying allegations. However, the accusation is now being investigated, and the complaint was submitted to the prosecution by Apink’s law firm as the victim began to blackmail Cho-Rong with false information.
On 22 November, the accuser was found guilty on charges of making threats on false information and is forwarded to further prosecution. The responsible law firm of Apink’s Chorong’s legal representative shared that over the seven months, the police investigated the case and strived to reveal as much as possible through various efforts, including interrogating the client, informant, witnesses, and acquaintances of both the client and informant.
They said, “the informant utilized the heightened surrounding school violence to make threats to the client based on false information. The informant did so by fabricating evidence such as edited recordings or irrelevant photos and releasing them to the public. With this decision, the informant has been forwarded to the prosecution.”
