Danny Burstein's wife Rebecca Luker, a three-time Tony Award nominee and one of Broadway's most acclaimed and popular musical actresses, died on 23 December 2020 at a New York City hospital. She passed away due to a nearly yearlong battle with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Sarah Fargo, Rebecca's agent, confirmed her death. Meanwhile, Danny released a statement stating regarding his wife's death, 'our family is devastated. I have no words at this moment because I’m numb.'
Rebecca previously announced that she had been diagnosed with ALS since February 2020. At the time, she tweeted:
"Hello friends. I have some tough news. Late last year I was diagnosed with ALS. I have the best medical care in the world and the greatest support. My dear husband Danny has been an angel. I will get well. In the meantime, we fight and go forward. Keep us in your thoughts."
In 2013, Rebecca appeared in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion. In addition to many stage credits, she appeared on TV in Boardwalk Empire and The Good Wife, and in the 2012 film Not Fade Away.
Her other off-Broadway credits include Death Takes a Holiday, Indian Blood, and The Vag--a Monologues.

Both Rebecca Luker and Danny Burstein's marriage wasn't first, but they both found their love. Firstly Rebecca was married to Gregory Jbara on 2 May 1993 and got a divorce in 1996. After a divorce, Danny and Rebecca were married on 9 June 2000.
As the novel COVID19 occurs, Danny and his wife also caught the virus. Danny talked about how he handles things for his wife in PEOPLE:
"No health care worker in their right mind would come to our home as we were both suffering with the aftereffects of the coronavirus. We were very much on our own. The next month was spent pretty much alone in isolation. Despite being dizzy and in a constant state of exhaustion, I was somehow able to care for her."
Before Rebecca, Danny was married to Laura Debra Toma in 1987 and got a divorce in 1998 after 11 years of marriage. From their marriage, the former couple had two children, Alexander and Zachary.
COVID-19 Struck Danny Burstein And His Crew Aaron Tveit
Danny Burstein suffered from the novel Coronavirus during his performance in the theatre in March 2020. He and his co-star Aaron Tveit, struck by COVID-19.
Danny was hospitalized as his condition worsened to a certain degree. Danny urged playwright Sarah Ruhl to write about his journey to the hospital and his way to recover. In the journal, he talks about his early stage of a symptom such as a fever, migraines, body aches, and lost sense of taste and smell.
He found out he was suffering COVID-19 after three days as his colleagues also suffered. And on 22 March 2020, he was hospitalized as his wife Rebecca called the emergency number.
In the hospital, Danny had some organ damage, and after four days, he recovered slowly recovered.
