Log Horizon is a Japanese webcomic novel series based on genres like adventure, fantasy, and science-fiction. The webcomic novel series was authored by Mamare Touno and portrayed by Kazuhiro Hara. The webcomic series began its serialization on 13th April 2010, on the user-generated novel publishing site called Shoetsuka ni Naro, where the novel was adapted into four manga adaptations. Enterbrain published the web-novel while Yen Press handled the English translations.

On the cast side, the webcomic novel was made into an anime adaptation by Satelight Inc. on NHK Educational TV, which made its debut from 5th October 2013 to 22nd March 2014, comprising a total of 25 episodes. The anime adaptation was directed by Shinji Ishihara and composed by Nemoto Toshizo. The opening theme for the first season was "Database" by Man with a Mission feat Takuma while the ending theme was "Your Song" by Yunchi.

After the completion of the first anime season, a 2nd season was announced, which was animated by Studio Dee, which began its airing from 4th October 2014 to 28th March 2015, comprising a total of 25 episodes. The 2nd season was also directed by Shinji Ishihara and composed by Nemoto Toshizo. The opening theme for the 2nd season was "Database" by Man with a Mission feat Takuma while the ending theme was "Wonderful Wonder World" by Yunchi.

Announcement of the Log Horizon Season 3

The first two seasons of Log Horizon became the blockbuster run, which made an astounding world record, as the anime was watched from 1 million spectators to 1.5 million viewers, respectively all around the world. Due to such immense financial prosperity, the third season has got an official release date.

After the successful hit of the first two seasons, a third season was announced comprising a total of 12 episodes titled Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table (Entaku Hokai).

The third season will adapt the 11th and 12th volumes of the web novel series where the staff and cast will be returning to reprise their roles. The third season of the anime is going to be animated by Studio Deen.

Season 3 Of Log Horizon Delayed; When Is The Release Date?

The 3rd season of Log Horizon was delayed to 2020 due to the writer being arrested for a scandal charge relating to the tax evasion crisis in April 2015. He was found condemned and was sentenced for ten months in prison, following a state of house arrest afterward.

Even though the case was cleared, the writer was left with a bad reputation and status. Due to these incidents, the novels were on hiatus and cannot be progressed further until 2018.

The Season 3 of Log Horizon is now under development process, and the date for the official release is already announced. According to the NHK Instructional television, the release date of Log Horizon Season 3 is in October 2020.

The Plot Of The Log Horizon Seasons

A total of 11 volumes were released so far to adapt the anime adaptation of Log Horizon. The first season was created using the first five volumes of the manga, while the 2nd season was composed of the remaining five volumes. 

The story plot of the log horizon revolves around a character named Shiroe, who is an avid video gamer. The story rotates around a fantasy world, where a considerable people numbering more than 30000 players, who were logged into the game at that time, including Shiroe was transported inside the MMORPG game known as "Elder Tale."

After venturing through the town called Akihabara, Shiroe joins up with his dear friend Naotsugu and an assassin called Akatsuki to persevere in this world that he cannot leave, while trying to understand the concept of this world. The sudden transportation inside the game was due to the 12th expansion pack named "Novasphere Pioneer," where the players call this incident the "Apocalypse."

Season 3 of Log Horizon will consist of the 11th and 12th volumes, which were released in 2018. This season will showcase what befalls on the adventurers and people of the land when otherwordly monsters called Tenwazawai attack the gaming world. The outcome will follow in emerging discrepancies between the East and the West Empires of Akiba.

The third installment also depicts the round table of Akihabara to crumble due to various reasons.

Characters Involved In Log Horizon

•Shiroe

Shiroe is the leading role of this anime series and the endowing guild master of Log Horizon. He is a Lvl 90 Enchanter specialist with a subclass bestowing of the role as a scribe, where he can cast potent support spells to his allies and draw maps of the areas he has traveled, while ultimately manifesting new spells that can significantly modify the natural laws of this world. His real name is Kei Shirogane, who is an avid video gamer.

Shiroe is a civilly awkward engineering alumnus student who played Elder Tale for approximately eight years. During that time, he was the tactician of a famous elite group of players, "Debauchery Tea Party," who performed high-level quests known as boss raids. He gained many infamy names such as "Shiroe the Strategist" or "Villian in Glasses," for his methods in solving the problem with an unethical approach.

•Naotsugu

Naotsugu is one of Shiroe's best associates and was also a member of the legendary disbanded Debauchery Tea Party club. His actual name is Naotsugu Hasegawa. His main role is of a Lvl 90"Guardian" with a subclass known as "Border Patrol," which allows him to use massive armors and weapons along with sturdy defense spells to guard him and his companions as well as numerous trap spells to allot severe damage to his opponents.

Naotsugu declares himself as an "open pervert," claiming that he likes to open up his perverted nature to others, alongside being proud of the fact. He inclines to get on Akatsuki's wrong side with his distorted remarks and a running gag, often resulting in getting a knee to his face. He operated as a salaryman in the real world.

•Akatsuki

Akatsuki is a college student and the same age as Shiroe. She is an Lvl90 Assassin with a subclass known as "Tracker," which intensifies her assassin abilities, alongside with detecting and stealth techniques. She was initially familiarized with Shiroe after having partied with him to achieve quests preceding before the Apocalypse.

After Akatsuki was trapped in her male form when the Apocalypse occurred, Shiroe helped her, which eventually lead her to call him "Lord" and joins his company, insisting that it is out of gratitude. Later, it was revealed that she is captivated and has feelings for him. 

•Nyanta

Nyanta is a graceful cat-like species with a role as a Lvl 90 Swashbuckler. He was the retired chief of the legendary Debauchery Tea Party and an old associate of Shiroe's. His subclass is a chef, which enables him to create delightful foods using constituents, which ends up being an essential plot point.

Before the Apocalypse, Nyanta was a member of the organization called "The Cat Food Guild," which was comprised entirely of cat people. It dispersed after their house caved in due to a bad climate. He joins Shiroe's guild and becomes an essential member of his family.
