There was a time when homosexuality was considered a disease, and people with same-sex preferences freaks of nature.

But, with the change in society's perception of sexuality and increase in mass awareness, gay people are slowly getting the love & support they deserve. Still, there exist many people- who refuse to give up on such taboo beliefs and consider homosexuality a threat to human society.

However, several organizations are fighting for equal rights of gay people and proving that, if given a chance, they can contribute to the betterment of human society.

Over the years, several high profile names- such as Sam Smith, Sir Ian McKellen, Ricky Martin, Linda Perry, Jim Parsons, Ellen DeGeneres, and so on- have come out as gay, which has helped general people in revealing their sexuality in public.

Despite the movement helping the gay community in general, it can have its drawbacks as cases have emerged where people got confused with their sexual preference and even got frustrated to the point leading to self-harm.

As no science can determine a person's hetero or homosexuality, it's up to the individual themselves to come to a conclusion. So, if there no proven experiment to find out if a person is gay or not, is it even possible to know if one is truly gay or simply confused? Let's spare some moments to find out!

Ask Yourself The Question

Have you ever been attracted to a person of the same sex? Or, have you ever felt jealous when a close friend sidelines you for another person? The answer to these questions may not be enough to determine your sexuality as jealousy to see one's friend get close with another individual is common, even if the friend is of the same sex.

Then, how can you know with certainty if you are indeed in love with your same-sex friend?

Well, try answering this question: If you were the last fertile man/woman in the world with plenty of others from the opposite sex, will you still not have intercourse with someone of the opposite sex?

If your answer was no, it doesn't necessarily mean you're gay. It possibly implies that you are just insecure about yourself and don't want to face your fear of the opposite sex. Meaning, you may not be gay at all.

On the other hand, a truly gay person will take time to consider the consequences of their actions. He/she will think of all the possibilities that his/her next action will lead to, including the survival or destruction of humankind. A gay person will most probably agree to mate with the opposite sex, keeping their sexual preference aside, for the continuation of the existence of humans.

Likewise, if you took the time to think about the question, you may still be undecided and looking to seek answers from outsiders rather than within.
