Never Have I Ever actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is not only just an actor but also a gamer. But she has a problem in the video gaming field, and that is not finding a suitable and matching character for herself. She says, 'Being a gamer of color, sometimes it's hard to adjust your avatar to look exactly like you.'
Ramakrishnan will be attending to her new partnership with Gillette Venus to host a virtual "Skinclusive Summer Social" event on Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the National Beach Day. Along with Venus and designer Nicole Cuddihy, Ramakrishnan will display nineteen downloadable custom designs that help players customize their skins and consider their skin types and colors.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, 18, has been in contact with Animal Crossing for over a decade now. She was eight, and she started loving the game. She said, 'I'll always love the older versions because of nostalgia.'
The older versions are always the most loved edition of the game; however, they also have issues concerning inclusivity and diversity.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan set off for the quarantine session and spent most of her time in Animal Crossing, where she spent more than 300 hours. That is the main reason for Ramakrishnan coming out with a brand partnership with Gillette Venus for a new Skinclusive Summer Line. Sources have mentioned that there will be a representation of more than 250 skins in the game.
With the same regard, she mentioned, 'I feel a sense of responsibility to be part of the fight for authentic representation of all identities.' Speaking about her event in collaboration with Gillette Venus, she said;
"I’m really happy to be part of this skinclusive mission with Venus because it speaks to my passion of representation and inclusivity, and also video games, because I love video games. There’s a lot to love."
The event will be held on 12 October 2020, next Monday. Stay Tuned.
