Harpal Randhawa and his son, Amer, were heading to the Murowa from Harare with four other people in a Cessna 206 aircraft owned by RioZim. Their plane crashed near the Murowa diamond mine in Zimbabwe, and as per some reports, the crash happened due to a technical snag.

Journalist and filmmaker Hopewell Chinono confirmed Harpal and his son’s death via Twitter on 02 October 2023 and shared their memorial service to be held at Raintree on Wednesday, 04 October 2023.
