Rachael Ray House Is Flooded

The TV chef, Rachel Ray, revealed that her NYC apartment was struck by a flood disaster while her apartment was already in the recovery process after being burned down in 2020. Ray shared the news with People giving details about how she and her husband had just finished the apartment makeover, but Ida (Hurricane) managed to take it down hard.

She shared, “Like, literally every speaker in the ceiling, the fireplace, every seam in the wall… it was like the apartment just literally melted, like in Wicked or something.”

The Celebrity Chef clarified how things took a turn for the worse when a remediation team came and made a hole in the wall breaking the main water pipe and flooding the entire building to the first floor. She explained, “the people that we were waiting for, the cavalry, burst this pipe and made everything worse. Tell me you would not feel like a kicked can.”

However, when Ray had experienced extensive property damage in 2020, the couple moved into their guest house and kept a positive mindset staying calm and collected. The TV personality, 53, lives with her husband, John Cusimano, in an NYC apartment in Lake Luzerne.

According to the reports, firefighters rushed to the chef’s apartment, and apparently, the fire broke at around 7:30 p.m. and with all the good luck, Rachel and her husband, along with her pet dog, were safe and sound. Rachel kept her gratitude by thanking the local firefighters for the best efforts in their service.

The American host Rachel tweeted,

“Thank you to our local responders for being kind and gracious and saving what they could of our home. Grateful that my mom, my husband, my dog... we're all okay. These are the days we all have to be grateful for what we have, not what we've lost. Our home was a light switch where we would turn off from work mode and deal with our lives. [F]or years, we had denied people access to it and curated it as a quiet, special space. It was our little world to just be us."

In an exclusive interview with People, the foodie host shared that her husband and she both have volatile personalities but are practical too. She added, “ At the end of the day, John and I, we always come back to grateful. Some days are different than others, but we try to say, 'Okay, here's the new plan,' even when we get down," Ray explained, "We're like 'Moonstruck' over here. We just keep saying, 'Stop your whining and snap out of it.'"

She concluded by saying, “We knew we’d get through this together. We balance each other, we always have.”

The couple stood together throughout the difficulties life threw at them and supported each other full-heartedly. She revealed her husband Cusimano handled the challenge of helping Ray produce at-home episodes of The Rachel Ray Show were filled the positions of cameraman or lighting director. She teased him, saying, “Martin Scors-lame-y is what we call him.”

While many people were curious and concern about the couple’s house, Rachel updated her fans by giving the first look at their rebuilding house on her show. She said, “John and I were discussing that somehow it was easier to just see it gone, and the hole in the ground that's our cellar is all that remained.”

Her husband added, “It was kind of easier to take it not being there than to stand inside a frame and see everything white all around you because you then really notice what’s missing.” She explained,

“Here's the outside guys. Can you believe it? This was literally just a hole on the ground. It looks like there's a house there again. That's amazing. This is where we're at, it's framed out. It looks really weird. Look, there's a door. It's coming along. This is where we're at, it's framed out. It looks really weird. Look, there's a door. It's coming along."

She added, "So here's our bedroom. This is the wall where I heard the fire climbing through the wall. And last time I was here there was literally no roof, like nothing, the house was gone. So I don't know, I have bad vibes about that wall, very scared of that particular wall. At least you can see some bones.“

The host concluded by clarifying, “It was not fun.
