'Black-ish' alum Marsai Martin came off addressing the criticism that she dealt at the virtual attendance at the BET Awards 2020 on 28 June 2020. She became the victim of online trolls criticizing her appearance on the virtual event. Many of the elves commented about her hair and teeth.

But, Martin quickly shattered the trolls via Instagram and Twitter. She addressed the comments with a text:

"Sorry, some of y'all don't like my hair. Or teeth ... which are my actual teeth btw. Good thing I don't put my effort into trying to please everyone. I like it. Chile I'm 16 this year, let me live. I'm trying to stay sane in quarantine. Enjoy the #BETAwards."

Similarly, she shared a one-minute-long video calling out the same people's names who made terrible comments on her. She talked about the trolls that cited her hair as 'grandma's wig' and veneers on Instagram.

Through the same post, she asked for pardon to anyone who is offended through her acts. She mentioned that she did not want to hurt anyone's feelings. Martin further added that some things are more important than her hair and asked justice for Breonna Taylor.

Martin received the Young Stars Award at the ceremony and presented the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award to Megan Thee Stallion.
