Courtney Marie Andrews released her new album entitled 'Old Flowers' on 24 July 2020 on Fat Possum Records.

The album consists of ten tracks, including Burlap String, Carnival Dream, How You Get Hurt, Ships in the Night, Break The Spell, Together or Alone, It Must Be Someone Else's Fault, Guilty, If I Told, and Old Flowers.

The musicians of the tracks on the album are Matthew Davidson, who handled bass and pedal steel to pump organ and Big Thief's James Krivchenia on drums. One of the songs named 'Guilty' gives the vibe of Neil Young's ballad, while other tracks like 'Together Or Alone' are the ones with a lavish and dramatic production.

The title track on the album enlists her natural statements that cite the world of rumination on the human condition. 'You can't water old flowers,' she stated.

Similarly, the 'Ships In The Night' is a kind of thoughtful letter to her ex, with whom she broke up in 2019. She sings, 'Hope you ease up on the drinking / Hope you laugh, hope you care / Hope your days are even better than the ones that we shared.'

The new album is produced by Andrew Sarlo and was recorded at Sound Space Studio. Talking about her album, she mentioned:

" Flowers is about heartbreak. There are a million records and songs about that, but I did not lie when writing these songs. This album is about loving and caring for the person you know you can’t be with. It’s about being afraid to be vulnerable after you’ve been hurt. It’s about a woman who is alone, but okay with that if it means truth. This was my truth this year—my nine-year relationship ended and I’m a woman alone in the world, but happy to know herself."

With the keen observation of her statement, the songs of the 'Old Flowers' somehow define her heartbreak.
